In 1943, Abe Rick and his son Al, just out of the Navy, leased a small corner of the Mill building we now own. They hand made the best mattresses ever made in the United States. They patented the name 'Comforpedic'.
On occasion a Senior citizen will brag about moving this 40 year old mattress into a spare room! we were then called called Comfort Bedding. In 1961, with a partner the 150,000 sq foot Mill building was purchased. Selectively displayed were 8 way hand tied sofas with latex cushions which were made in Boston. Slowly Al Rick set out to sample solid wood bedroom and kitchen sets made in New England.
Al Rick was the first discounter in the furniture trade. His philosophy was to maintain the low overhead so to sell quality furniture at remarkably reasonable prices. We continue the tradition of good quality furniture at reasonable prices. We value our loyal customers many becoming friends through the decades. We are waiting for your great grandchildren to be our next group of young people to assist in furnishing their homes. |
